more feedback...bore!!!

This is the feedback we revieved from the class we swapped with, for the day to share critical analysis of eachothers videos:

genre: dub/electronica/techno

relationships: Cant really understand lyrics. As each induviduals part of music ends, gradually goes back to real life. Wobble effect is cool with appropriate bits. When second beat kicks in, play is pressed on i-pod!! colours, dancing and movement good with music. Lip synching not good. shaking effect good when bass is part of song. visuals all the same: boring towards the end.

Camerawork: shots mostly framed well, camera shakeing good. Beginning cuts best, camera moving up and down.

editing: Mirror image flipped, rewind effect is realy good. Shaking effect with the fade works well. quick edit at start is brilliant sets the scene. END IS GOOD!!! lots of quick edits enable us to keep interested and not get bored!! LOVE IT!!

mise-en-scene: Some of the locations worked well, others really didnt...B&B???!!

special effects: Enhanced colours good. I love the performing midget...love u james!!!!

analysis of our music video, including feedback

santagold - creator

camerawork:

as a group we believe that our camera work was really good, while we were shooting we made sure we capture or footage from different angles and with different camera shots so this way we would have a variety f shots to choose from for our editing. as a feedback form our class they agreed that we had lots of hand-held shots which work very well with the music, shots with the camera shaking were very good and well used. the end works very well because it adds to the fun and wacky relationship between the artists, this also reflects what the video is about. variety of shots makes it look impressive throughout.

editing:

the best feature of the video. we as a group believe we had an equal input in each section of the making of the music video, although we did put much more effort into the editing. This was because we thought that the editing was the most essental part of portraying our video as the crazy and fun creation that we hoped for. As part of our feedback, the rest of our class agreed that the shots change with the musical beat. noise shake fits visual shake, and there is a good variety of shots and good screen split.

mise-en scene:

We chose to use three different settings for the three different characters, this was to emphasise the induviduality of the people. For our shooting we made sure that we used our locations to the MAX, making sure we took advantage of everything each location had to offer us. We chose our costumes very specifically to represent the thre of us as bright, fun, weird and wacky induviduals. The bright colours and bold letters and crazy patterns threw out our perforances even more, making them more rememberable. People in our class had this to say: "RAVE!!!! lots of bright colours saturated and vibrant. really fits with the song, very cool visual style. works well with the electric song. like the urban setting, fits with the style. ending shots are wicked. good light and grungy background. trippy, drug influenced!! nice!!"

specail effects:

We wanted to add a few special effects from the start, although we knew that we didnt want to overdo it, as you can have too much of a good thing. We used a split screen effectively and we used colour change on some darkroom clips. We also used reverse effects on two of the clips when it was relevent as it worked well with the words of th song. We also wanted to make the whole piece much more bold and bright by saturating the whole piece!!! here is what the class had to say: slowed down shaky bits were really cool. reversed leaves bit is good and surreal. red bits showed energy, liked colour correction - worked nicely!!

Intensive class feedback

Genre: Techno, electric, indie. New rave dress code, bright colours and urban streets
. The editing communicates the type of genre really well. Abstract. Makes up for lack of narratve - the editing keeps audiences interested.

relationships: the song is crazy, weird music, weird dancing, wierd places. fits with music and lip-synching is good.
