Pan for Music Video

1st part

It starts with three quick long shots of the three different settings we are in, during the video.
-Railway Station/ Mill Road Bridge
-Grafton Subway
-Backstreets of Hills Road


The next 3 shots are slower than the first 3. It introduce the characters, and the maind idea of the video, that is the characters escaping from reality through the music provided by the i-pod. These shots are not as quick as the previous ones but they are fairly quick.
These scenes will be shot using close shots of the characters faces.
-1st shot. close shot of 1st character at mill road bridge. It will be showing the character turning the i-pod on.
-2nd shot. Close shot of 2nd character at Grafton Subway putting the i-pod on.
-3rd shot. Close shot of 3rd character putting the i-pod on.

-4th shot. Extreme close shot of the song being selected on the i-pod.


After the shot of the ipod is shown is where the video really starts, going from the everyday style to the outfits that the characters will be wearing during the song. We are considering to put a transition effect to make it more exciting. The effects that first come into mind are:
-swirl, so the 3 shots swirl together.
-some sort of scratchy effect, meaning that the screen will sort of tremble and it will get quicker before fading out to the new settings.
(These effects are not necesserily the ones we will use)



After the main transaction effect the three characters appear on camera on a split screen and with a quick glance from the public at their new outfits they go their separate ways.
-the shots used in the split screen will be ong shots so the new appearance of the characters can be seen by the audience.


After the final introduction the video becomes simpl but complex. Every charcter sings and dances to the song in their different settings, all th dances and rouines will be different as they aren't choreographed but free style. During this middle part of the video we are going to have a variety of shots:
-long shots
-medium shots
-close shots
angels shots >Bottom up
>up-down
>Sideways

We plan to use a variety of effects in our video to create a very vibrant and out of this world feel. The reason we chose to put this video on our blog is that we like he variety of effects and shots this particular 'director' chose for his small production. Even though he uses i-movie the program we plan to use, final cut, should allow us to do all these effects and hopefully more as final cut is an upgrade rom i-movie

this video uses effects like split screen and mirror images. We thought it was interesting and helpful to see the effects 'in action' so to speak to understand how they come across in a music video.

Examples of outfits

The following are examples of the style of clothing we will be wearing for the bulk of the music video: All the outfits consist of a stereotypical indie edge..

For the boys:

The main image we are concentrating on in this picture is the man on the far right. His style of clothing is appropriate to what we are considering.



we like the idea of the male character possibly wearing a cardigan.


skinny jeans are also a very likely possibility for the male character, here modeled by 'fall out boy'


For the girls:



we like the idea of bright make-up and nails for the female characters as well as big messy hair. Amy Winehouse portrays this with her long pinkish nails and larger than life hair!!!

kate moss's fashion line with topshop has definetly got a hint of the type of style we are looking for as portrayed by the model wearing the stripy top and scarf combo


another thing we are visualising on the female characters is big, chunky jewellery. Lily Allen wears the type of jewellery we are thinking of as well as doing big make-up and colourful clothing all of which are things we are going for.

Kate Nash is another singer we feel captures the style we are visualising, she wears funky dresses, bright colours and leggings along with messy hair

Our video for the song creator by santogold, will consist of a performance. Not a traditional performance, but an extended idea of a performanc. It does not follow a story, but does use a variety of settings and props.


Our video consists of 3 individuals lisitening to their I-pods and letting the music basically "overwhelm" them. They lose themselves into the music and this causes them to "create chaos"!!!!!


the settings that will be using are mainly the back streets of cambridge. our main options are the bridge at mill robeging as the ad , the backstreets of hills road, the subway at the grapfhton and the back of parkers piest.


the video begings with 3 friends that are suppose to meet, the camera follows then as they make their way to their final location, the 3 individulas put their ipods on as a distraction for their long trip... the songs all happen to be the same.


As the song begins the characterts lose themself in the music and skate from reality. they go from their everyday style into alternative stereo tipical indie outfits. and as they make their way to meets their friends they cause caos around the backstreets of cambridge. this consist of three different settings with three different characters. the camera shows how they make their way to their meeting place. as the video is very simple as a group we decided that we would build it up by adding many special effects emphasising the song and to help it link to the video. the last few scenes are very similar as the begining it shows different shots of the 3 individulas taking their ipods out and one close shot of somebody turning off the song.before these last few scenes a short rapid visual summary of the video appears almost like flashbacks building up the ending. after the ipod is off, the characters appear as they were dressed before, implying that they are back to reality with a few quirky laughs and remarks.

the reson we like this video.. funk y2c is because the follow the same ideas that we have for our settings that its the backstreets of cambridge. they also interact with the public aswell as the rest of the other charcaters, something we would like to have happen in our video.

kidulthood..

this is a section of the movie that show the type of flming we want in our music video. the the specific cut is between 5:15 to 6:40. it show emotion in a very specific manner.
